Dr. Dubinsky graduated from the University of Toronto with his M.D. in 1975, and obtained his certification in Emergency Medicine in the early 1980s. After several years as a rural family physician, he served as the Chief of Emergency Medicine at North York General Hospital from 1986 to 1996, and at the University Health Network, from 1996 to 2001. Subsequent to his clinical career he served as an Associate Director of Hay Group Health Care Consulting from 2001 till 2016, after which he was appointed as a Senior Fellow and Adjunct Professor at the University of Toronto’s Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation. He was the theme leader for the “Leader” theme in the undergraduate medical curriculum from 2016-2018. He is involved in the Faculty of Medicine Postgraduate Leadership Certificate program and IHPME’s combined MD/Master’s Program in health system leadership and innovation (HSLI) and IHPME’s Vernissage Health leadership development program.
He devotes the remainder of his time to board work on behalf of civil and human rights organizations as well as his family, personal fitness and travel.
Vernissage Health focuses on the inner work of leadership in health care. Through self reflection, storytelling and deep listening, emerging leaders (graduate students and recent alumni) are invited to cultivate the mindsets and awareness required to lead positive change in health care.
