Sanjay Basu, MD, PhD, is a primary care physician and epidemiologist. He is Head of Clinical at Waymark Care, an organization that provides neighborhood-based services for people receiving Medicaid. Dr. Basu received his education from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Oxford University (as a Rhodes Scholar), and Yale before completing his residency in internal medicine at the University of California in San Francisco. He had published over 300 peer-reviewed journal articles, been named to the “Top 100 Global Thinkers” List by Foreign Policy Magazine, awarded the NIH Director’s New Innovator Award, received the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers, and is a current Health Equity council member for The White House. He co-founded Possible Health and served as a Fellow at Imperial College London and Director of Research for the Center for Primary Care at Harvard Medical School. He currently practices medicine at San Francisco’s Integrated Care Center, a primary care, behavioral health, substance abuse, and oral health center for unhoused people.
