Shabnum is the Head, Corporate Communications for the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC). She is responsible for the alignment of all the internal and external communications for the transit agency. In that role, she has led communication for the TTC throughout the global COVID-19 pandemic.

Prior to joining the TTC, Shabnum was the Director of Public Affairs and Stakeholder Relations for the Ontario Hospital Association where she was in charge of advocacy efforts on behalf of the organization. Shabnum began her career as a lawyer practicing both at one of Canada’s most prestigious law firms but also in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, one of Canada’s poorest neighborhoods. She has served as a senior advisor to several Cabinet Ministers at Queen’s Park, including two Ministers of Health and Long-Term Care.
