Case and contact management is an essential component of a comprehensive public health response strategy in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Such work is complicated by various factors, including staffing capacity, imperfect technologies, and protecting population sub-groups rendered particularly vulnerable to the pandemic. This rapid review describes the case and contact management strategies that have been deployed in jurisdictions across Canada to meet the challenges of COVID-19. Our study identifies the challenges involved in carrying out this vital public health effort, and highlights the promising practices and innovations that have emerged across the country.
