Index Pages

Index Pages

As this site adds several content types on top of the core Pages and Posts, it uses the Index Pages plugin to designate the root page for the other content types.

These settings can be found under Settings > Reading.

The Reading page under the Settings Menu

This screen allows you to set which page acts as the homepage, which acts as the posts page (for news items), as well as the page for other content types.

Any page can be designated the Index page for a post type, and at time of writing all post types that support and index page currently have one assigned.

Reassinging Index Pages

If for whatever reason you wish to change what page is the index page for a post type, select it from the dropdown for that post type. Please note that while it's technically possible to use the same page for multiple post types, issues will arise in properly displaying mixed content.

Customizing Index Pages

By default, a page that is assigned as an Index Page for a post type will have the listing/directory module displayed after any content you set for the page. If you wish to customize this, however, you can insert the special Index Content block to control the exact position.
