IHPME’s 19th annual student-led conference, renamed this year to Research and Impact Day, will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2023. Considered one of our flagship events, we are thrilled to be hosting it in person this year. Research and Impact Day is the largest showcase of student work and provides our community with the opportunity to share, learn, recognize, and celebrate the exciting and impactful work of students across program disciplines.

Conference attendees will include a diverse audience of students, IHPME faculty, alumni, and staff, along with professionals from industry, academia, and government. The goal of Research and Impact Day is to cultivate an intellectual exchange, create networking opportunities, and support the learning of future health leaders.

Our theme this year is “Towards Equitable and Effective Healthcare Systems: Bridging the Gap between Clinical and Social Sectors” which will focus on the importance of integrating clinical and social sectors in healthcare delivery.

Research and Impact Day Schedule

The morning of the conference will include a panel discussion on the topic of social prescribing with field experts Dr. Dominik Nowak, Liben Gebremikael, Althea Martin Risden, and Paul Taylor, moderated by Dr. Kate Mulligan. In the afternoon, a keynote speech by Dr. Andrew Boozary will discuss the intersection of health policy, social justice, and healthcare delivery to improve outcomes of marginalized populations. Showcases of student work through poster and oral presentations will take place throughout the day. The conference will culminate in an awards ceremony, and wine and cheese reception.

Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities in achieving equitable and effective healthcare systems and learn about innovative approaches to healthcare delivery that prioritize patient-centred care and cross-sector collaborations. We hope to inspire change, foster meaningful dialogue, and promote health equity by supporting collaboration and learning among attendees.
