Post-market Outcome for Pharmaceuticals – Challenges and Opportunities

Speaker: Dr. Mo Hussain, Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-term Care

Mo Hussain is an Economist with the Ministry of Health and Long-term Care.  His areas of interest are in pharmaceutical Mo Hussain March 11thpolicy and medical education in developing countries.

With the rise of targeted high cost medications, drug plan payers have increasingly adopted agreements to mitigate expenditure uncertainty. This talk will discuss concepts of outcome/performance/risk based pricing agreements in the context of pharmaceutical approvals and reimbursement with a focus on post-market performance review. We will review recent practices and experiences of such agreements across jurisdictions. Challenges and opportunities in outcome standardization, data management and process improvements will be reviewed.
