Canada and Israel both have healthcare systems that are amongst the highest ranking in the developed world. These are countries where socialized healthcare is well institutionalized. However, there is an ongoing struggle to ensuring that marginalized communities receive equal access to care. Canada and Israel are both tasked with understanding shifting needs and appropriately allocating healthcare resources to populations in need on a fair and equitable basis.

What does access to healthcare for marginalized populations look like in Canada versus Israel? How do the challenges of equal access present in these countries? Where do similarities and differences exist? What is the role of civil society in improving health equity in their respective public health systems?

Join us for a fascinating discussion with Ran Goldstein, Executive Director of Physicians for Human Rights-Israel, and Dr. Katherine Rouleau, Vice Chair of Global Health and Social Accountability in Dept of Family Medicine at the University of Toronto, as they share their challenges and successes with improving healthcare equity.
