The Dalla Lana School of Public Health and Bloomberg Nursing are working together to support Toronto youth this holiday season. All members of the Health Sciences Building community — students, faculty and staff — are encouraged to give to Covenant House, Canada’s largest homeless youth agency.
Join us on #GivingTuesday, December 1, from 11am-2pm in the Health Sciences Building lobby for our Cupcakes for Community Event. Bring your contribution to Covenant House and receive a miniature cupcake as thanks for your efforts. Can’t make it on #GivingTuesday? The donation boxes will be in place until December 15 in the HSB lobby.
The health sciences community supports advocacy efforts for long term food security, affordable housing and income security. Click here for a recent article examining local access to healthy food and click here for community events on this topic and more.
This holiday season, we’re asking everyone to contribute what they can from the following list:
- High Demand and Urgently needed items:
- Baby items, including wipes, diapers, formula, jarred foods
- Hats, mitts, scarves, socks and gloves
- Tinned tuna, salmon or other canned meat
- Rice and pasta
- Pasta sauce and paste
- Crackers and cereals
- Canned vegetables and fruits
- Soup cans or packages
- Canned coffee and juice
The cupcakes may be small, but your efforts and contributions have a huge impact. Health science professionals and students are there for our community every step of the way, and we hope you’ll help us bring this sentiment to life on behalf of those in need this holiday season.
