Farbod Abolhassani is an entrepreneur, data scientist, and software engineer with a deep commitment to integrating AI-enabled technologies into the healthcare sector. He holds adjunct professorships at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation (IHPME) and the Dalla Lana School of Public Health (DLSPH) at the University of Toronto. Farbod teaches “The Tools for Data Science: Notebooks and Versioning” within the AI4PH Health Research Training Platform, which aims to empower professionals with AI and big data skills to catalyze transformative changes in population and public health, with a focus on health equity. He is a course mentor for “MHI 2020 Leadership for Digital Health Transformation”.

Farbod is also an Affiliate Scientist at the AI Deployment and Evaluation (AIDE) lab of Trillium Health Partner’s Institute for Better Health. His work involves developing and validating AI models that are safe and equitable for healthcare.

Farbod Abolhassani also serves as the Director of Innovation and Technology at TeleVU Innovation, a startup committed to overcoming the physical limitations in healthcare delivery. TeleVU Innovation leverages telemedicine, augmented reality, and artificial intelligence to revolutionize healthcare services. In his role, Farbod is instrumental in developing innovative hub-and-spoke models that facilitate connections among clinicians, enhancing the collaborative care framework. He is at the forefront of designing and implementing state-of-the-art, AI-powered software solutions, aiming to transform healthcare delivery by integrating cutting-edge technological advancements.

Previously, he spearheaded the analytics and data science consulting division at Medtronic Canada, a Fortune 500 medical device company. As Lead Data Science Consultant, he directed a team in deploying healthcare data science solutions across multiple hospitals in various provinces. Moreover, Farbod led the creation and execution of a unique AI-powered anesthesia monitor that predicts complications during cardiac surgery, now in use in major cardiac centers across Canada.

Farbod Abolhassani earned his graduate degree in Health Informatics from the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto, focusing his education on spearheading health system transformations through a blend of health systems management and advanced information and communication technologies.
