A general internal medicine physician, Dr. Irfan Dhalla joined the active staff of St. Michael’s Hospital in 2008. He joined the faculty as a clinician-scientist, and over the first few years of his career his research was recognized with awards from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Canadian Society of Internal Medicine and the University of Toronto.
From 2013 to 2019, he served as a vice-president at Health Quality Ontario, a government agency tasked with supporting improvements in the quality of care provided to Ontarians. In 2020, he returned to Unity Health Toronto, and joined the executive team. Irfan is responsible for the Equity, Patient Experience and Quality portfolios across the network. He also has accountability for Medical Affairs and the Mental Health and Addictions Program at St. Joseph’s and St. Michael’s.
He is also an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine and the Institute for Health Policy and Management at the University of Toronto.
