Michael Lebenbaum is the Senior Manager, Health Economics & Outcomes Research in the Advocacy department at the Canadian Cancer Society. He is a Status-only faculty at IHPME at the University of Toronto, adjunct professor in the Faculty of Health at Dalhousie University, and an Honorary Fellow in the Social Sciences Research Services Department of the University of Wisconsin College of Letters and Sciences.
He previously completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a PhD in Health Services Research with a concentration in Health Economics from IHPME at the University of Toronto and a MSc in Epidemiology from Western University. He was employed to conduct research by Public Health Ontario from 2012-2014, ICES from 2014-2022 and as a scientist at the University of Wisconsin from 2022-2023.
He leads a team at the Canadian Cancer Society who conduct health economics and health technology assessment research related to cancer-related public policies (e.g., job protections during medical leave, caregiving tax credits, ICER thresholds, etc.) with the research routinely being used by the Canadian Cancer Society’s Advocacy team for advocacy purposes. He also carries out mental health economics research.
