Kristen MacKinnon began her career in the digital health field in 2014 at the Queen’s Family Health Team in Kingston, Ontario. Her focus was training the incoming PGY1 family medicine residents on the best practices of using an EMR for clinical efficiency, data quality and quality improvement projects. This strong foundation allowed her new opportunities to work in different roles within the industry such as in technical support, project management and implementation of EMRs, strategic working groups and training and development in both academic and professional environments.
Currently a Practice Enhancement Consultant at OntarioMD, Kristen has provided training and mentorship for the optimization of EMRs and third-party digital health tools to clinics across the province, while fostering working relationships with key external stakeholders across various levels of government and vendors within the industry. She has an interest in the responsible use of AI in clinical settings, leveraging digital tools to increase interoperability across the healthcare industry and mentorship.
