Ash Roy is a seasoned health informatics and health information management leader with extensive experience across Canada’s healthcare system. He currently serves as Manager, Health Information Management and Enterprise Data Quality at North York General Hospital, where he leads initiatives focused on data quality, clinical documentation integrity, and the effective use of health information to support patient care, funding accuracy, and organizational decision-making.
Ash has held progressive roles at prominent organizations including Ontario Health, Michael Garron Hospital, and the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI), giving him a system-level perspective on health data standards, performance reporting, and information governance. He is an International MD and Master of Public Health graduate and holds a specialized master’s degree in Health Informatics, combining strong clinical foundations with advanced expertise in health data and digital health systems.
His areas of expertise include ICD-10-CA and CCI coding, case mix and funding methodologies, enterprise data quality, clinical documentation improvement, and health data governance. Ash has a strong professional interest in automation and analytics, particularly in leveraging tools such as business intelligence platforms, scripting, and workflow automation to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability in health information management processes.
