Husam Abdel-Qadir

Husam Abdel-Qadir graduated from medical school at the University of Toronto in Canada with the Silver Medal in 2007. He has since developed an interest in cardiovascular disease among patients with cancer and other non-cardiovascular co-morbidities. At present, the primary focus of his research program is the long-term cardiovascular health of breast cancer survivors, which is being supported by a Chair in Heart and Brain Health from the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. In recognition of his research productivity, he was awarded the 2017 European Society of Cardiology Young Investigator Award in the Clinical Sciences Category, the inaugural Young Investigator Competition at the 2017 Global Cardio-Oncology Summit and the 2018 Polanyi prize in Medicine/ Physiology.
