Area of Research: We are seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to join our multidisciplinary and collaborative team in the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation (IHPME), University of Toronto, and Sunnybrook Research Institute.
The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research focused on improving surgical, ICU, and perioperative care through pragmatic clinical trials, health technology assessments, implementation science, and health policy innovations. We offer a vibrant academic environment at Sunnybrook Research Institute and the University of Toronto, with access to provincial health data (ICES), CIHR-funded projects, and wide network of national and international collaborators. Trainee will have an opportunities to lead and co-author high-impact publications, contribute to grant writing and present at major conferences.

Description of duties:
- Develop and implement observational and interventional research protocols in clinical epidemiology and health services
- Perform advanced quantitative analyses of large clinical and administrative databases using statistical software would be preferred (e.g., R, SAS)
- Support clinical studies with patient assessment, consent processes and data management
- Manage multiple research projects, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met
- Ensure all research activities comply with institutional and regulatory guidelines, including ethics approvals and data privacy standards
- Work effectively under pressure and tight timelines
- Prepare manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals
- Contribute to the development of grant proposals and funding applications
- Present research finding at scientific meetings and conferences
Salary: $50,000-$60,000 (based on experience/background)
Required qualifications:
- PhD in clinical epidemiology, health services research
- Strong quantitative research skills for observational data
- Demonstrated productivity in peer-reviewed publications
- Experience or interest in acute care, perioperative medicine, ICU, or health system innovation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong collaborative skills
- Ability to work independently with strong problem-solving skills
- Strong scientific writing skills (manuscript preparation, grant writing, etc.)

The normal hours of work are 40 hours per week for a full-time postdoctoral recognizing that the needs of the employee’s research and professional development and the needs of the supervisor’s research program may require flexibility in the performance of the employee’s duties and hours of work.
