About

Dr. Mohammad Noaeen is a Data Science Institute Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Institute of Health Policy, Management, and Evaluation, Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto. He holds a PhD in Software Engineering from the University of Calgary, with research spanning health informatics, multimodal AI, environmental health, precision public health, and machine learning. His current work focuses on integrating advanced data science methods with multidimensional health data to improve early detection and prevention of chronic conditions like Type 2 diabetes, emphasizing equitable healthcare for at-risk populations.

Before joining the Data Science Institute, Dr. Noaeen was a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Canadian Urban Environmental Health Research Consortium (CANUE) at DLSPH, where he contributed to environmental health research through air pollution modeling, data linkage, and the development of equity-centered web tools, focusing on vulnerable groups like children and older adults. Prior to that, he held a postdoctoral position at Harvard Business School’s Ethical Intelligence Lab, where he researched transparency and societal impacts in autonomous vehicle testing and deployment. Dr. Noaeen has published in leading journals and medical AI conferences, including Nature Digital Medicine, PLOS Digital Health, Expert Systems with Applications, Urban Health, and IEEE Biomedical Engineering contributing to advancements in AI and its application to healthcare challenges.
