Overview

The core curriculum of this unique doctoral program will focus on theory-driven expertise and knowledge creation that identifies educational problems and solutions in collaboration with health professions education (HPE) practitioners, learners, patients, and clinical partners.

Entry Term: Fall

Accepting Applications: Late Sept-Nov 15

HPER Application Deadline: November 15, 2023

Study Options: Full time, flex-time

Time Commitment: 4 years full time, 6 years flex time

Supervisor: Although it does not guarantee admission, communicating with potential supervisors is helpful in structuring the letter of intent required for your application. Review Faculty Profiles and Research and Initiatives to find potential supervisors that align with your research interests.

Fees and Funding: Full-time students will receive a funding package. Flex-time students see study options. All students are encouraged to apply for awards.

Program Outcomes 

HPER graduates are prepared to put theory to work, particularly in complex issues that can be difficult to see and understand. Graduates of the program will be HPER leaders, asking questions and providing perspectives that help HPE professionals and researchers reframe and reconsider assumptions about their work, opening new insights, processes, and innovative approaches in HPE.
