Professional-stream: Your personal time off will be determined by your program’s curriculum. Students are encouraged to take time off between blocks.

Library Support

How can I get help from the library for my course assignments and other research projects, like systematic or scoping reviews?

The Gerstein Science Information Centre is Canada’s largest academic science and health science library, and is part of the University of Toronto Library’s system of 40 libraries. You can use any of these libraries, but Gerstein will be your main one.  To use health databases (e.g. Medline, Embase, Cochrane, etc), we recommend accessing them directly via the Gerstein website.  For additional research resources and tips, please visit this IHPME guide and this Systematic & Scoping Reviews guide.

  • General library support: Includes connecting you with library materials and resources, book/ebook purchase requests, and any other library-related questions
  • Research support: Includes one-on-one consultations (in-person or virtual), in support of course assignments, and including general guidance on comprehensive search strategy development for knowledge syntheses (e.g. systematic and scoping reviews)
