This is an intermediate implementation science course. It is highly recommended that you take an introduction to implementation science course, such as HAD5752 Introduction to Knowledge Translation & Implementation Science, and/or have prior implementation science experience before taking this course. Please reach out to the course instructors before enrolling into this course to discuss your prior relevant experience if you have not already taken an introduction to implementation science course.

Objectives

  • Understand the principles of implementation science, including commonly used study designs
  • Understand the steps to developing, implementing and evaluating an evidence-based intervention
  • Be able to critically appraise and discuss the use of various implementation theories, models and frameworks and how they apply in an implementation project life cycle

Description

This course provides an overview of implementation science (the study of methods and strategies to promote evidence into real-world settings). The course will prepare students to integrate principles of implementation science into their research methods and proposals and will provide an advanced understanding of the science of implementation. Students will critically appraise implementation science literature and will use applied examples to explore the theories, models, frameworks and methods used to design, evaluate and scale evidence-based interventions.
