We are pleased to announce this year’s keynote address will be presented by Nick Goodwin, CEO and co-founder of the International Foundation for Integrated Care. We will also be announcing the 2018 winner of the Emerging Health System Leader Award in Honour of Louise Lemieux-Charles.

Keynote Speaker: Nick Goodwin, CEO and co-founder, International Foundation for Integrated CareProfile of Nick Goodwin

Nick is co-Founder and CEO of the International Foundation for Integrated Care (IFIC), a not-for-profit foundation dedicated to improving the science knowledge and adoption of integrate care in policy and practice across the World ( Nick is Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Integrated Care (IJIC), IFIC’s open-access and impact-rated scientific periodical (

This work includes the development of IFIC’s education and training arm, the Integrated Care Academy ©, and IFIC’s wider portfolio of work developing international collaborative centres supporting research and development activities in both Europe, Asia-Pacific and the Americas. This includes the roll-out of activities within IFIC Australia, a collaborative venture with the Centre for Rural and Remote Mental Health at the University of Newcastle, New South Wales.

In 2017, Nick launched Integrated Care Solutions © to support the design and implementation of integrated care. The approach seeks to provide a diagnosis of the strengths and weaknesses of local care systems for integrated care through international benchmarking and then support effective design, implementation and evaluation. Recent work has included supporting the model of integrated emergency care for the Ministry of Health in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the development of new integrated care programs for people requiring social assistance with the Estonian Government.

Nick also holds a range of research, educational and consultation roles worldwide. These international commitments include several European R&D projects including the project SUSTAIN ( and the Transnational Forum for Integrated Community Care (TransForm) a project supported by the Network of European Foundations. Nick also works as an expert advisor and consultant to national governments and international organisations including the World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank and the World Health Organisation. In 2017 Nick was appointed to WHO Europe’s Primary Health Care Advisory Group, examining the future of PHC ahead of the 40th Anniversary of the Alma-Ata Declaration in October 2018. Nick continues to actively support the WHO’s work on people-centred and integrated health services.
