Liane Fernandes is the Vice-President, Ontario with the Canadian Red Cross. In her current role, Liane is responsible for advancing strategy, business development, relationship management and financial accountability for the Canadian Red Cross within the province of Ontario. Given the significant role the Canadian Red Cross plays in supporting emergency response and recovery, preparedness training, health programming, and addressing needs identified by First Nations, Liane collaborates closely with government, Indigenous and community partners to offer relevant and creative solutions to meet the unique needs of communities across the province.
Liane has always been passionate about helping people. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated an exceptional ability to set and drive strategic direction, lead through change, and transform challenges into opportunities, always keeping people and purpose at the centre. A passionate champion for health equity, Liane has a deep commitment to system transformation and strengthening communities.
Prior to joining the Canadian Red Cross, Liane was the Vice President of System Strategy at Ontario Health, where she provided executive leadership to the Ontario Health Central COVID-19 response. As Chief Strategy Officer and Vice President of Regional Programs with the Mississauga Halton LHIN, Liane had the opportunity to lead health system strategy, design and transformation within and across all health care sectors. Liane holds a Master of Health Sciences in Health Administration and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Toronto, where she also serves as an adjunct lecturer at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health.
