I am the Associate Scientific Director with CIHR’s Institute of Health Services and Policy Research, where I work with a team and partners to develop, implement and evaluate innovative research funding programs designed to support research that makes an impact and strengthen the capacity of the health services and policy research community. A recent example is the Health System Impact Fellowship program, which has supported 250+ fellows to complete embedded fellowships within more than 115 health system organizations across the country where they apply their research skills to help tackle high-priority impact goals of the organization and help advance learning health systems. The program has inspired the creation of additional embedded research programs, such as the OHT Impact Fellowship program at IHPME that I co-lead with Dr. Patrick Feng and Dr. Ross Baker.
My academic research interests span several areas including quality in long-term care, embedded research and knowledge mobilization, training modernization, and learning health systems.
The OHT Impact Fellows program places skilled evaluators and researchers directly within OHTs. During their year-long embedded fellowship, OHT Impact Fellows will support the implementation and evaluation of local priority projects and contribute to rapid learning and improvement.
