Impact

Dr. Moriah Ellen, MBA, Ph.D., is currently a Senior Lecturer, Department of Health Systems Management, Guilford Glazer Faculty of Business and Management and Faculty of Health Sciences, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel, Assistant Professor (Status) at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto, and Investigator at McMaster University in Canada. Moriah’s primary research interests are knowledge translation and exchange (i.e., evidence informed health policy making, dissemination of research results, organizational supports for KTE and relationships within KTE), overuse and unnecessary use of health services (i.e., understanding why difficult health systems are approaching this issue differently, patient, provider and decision maker perceptions) and ageing and health system issues (i.e., transitions of care, adult day centres, preventing falls among the elderly). Dr. Ellen has consulted both nationally (i.e. the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care), and internationally (i.e. the World Health Organization).

Dr. Ellen holds an MBA in health services management and marketing and a PhD from the University of Toronto from the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation. During her time as a Doctoral Student, Moriah received a Doctoral Research Award from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Ted Goldberg Award for Academic Excellence in Health Systems Research. Moriah also completed a post-doctorate at McMaster University in the area of health policy. She has delivered several presentations, published in academic journals and co-authored on book chapters related to knowledge translation and health policy.
