Dr. Zakaria is an Assistant Professor in the Biostatistics Division and Institute of Health Policy, Management, and Evaluation (IHPME) at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health (DLSPH), University of Toronto. She received a Ph.D. in Information Systems at the School of Computing and Information Systems, Singapore Management University, and postdoctoral training at the Manning College of Information and Computer Sciences, University of Massachusetts. Her research integrates mobile devices and interconnected systems to explore new methods of health monitoring and analysis. She takes a special interest in building a healthy society by developing equitable applications that can empower individuals to take charge of their health and well-being. Grounded in Systems research, her investigations lie in the intersecting subfields of Mobile and Ubiquitous Computing, AI/ML, and Human-Computer Interaction.
