Dr. Walter Tavares is a Scientist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Health and Society, the Wilson Centre for Health Professions Education Research and the Department of Family and Community Medicine. He holds a PhD in Health Research Methodology from McMaster University with expertise as a mixed methods researcher. His research program focuses on two broad areas, including health professions education (assessment, continuing professional development), and community-based health and social services. He is the Director of the “Paramedicine Collaborative at the Department of Family and Community Medicine”, working to advance paramedicine science, policy and practice, and its role in the healthcare system. He is also Chair of the McNally Project for Paramedicine Research. Walter is an experienced clinician, educator, researcher and leader, working closely with several health professions, specialties, and collaborative healthcare and health system networks. His work has led to numerous innovations and invitations to contribute across health professions locally, nationally and internationally.
