Minimum Education
- Related four year undergraduate degree (e.g. Health Sciences, Social Sciences, Ontario Regulated Health Professions, Computer Science or Information Science)
- B+ Average in Last Academic Year
- Demonstrated English Language Proficiency
International students – please refer to the International Credential Equivalency Chart to ensure that you meet the GPA requirement.
Experience
Preference will be given to candidates who:
- Have demonstrated leadership in a volunteer or professional capacity
- Can articulate a vision for improvement in the healthcare system
- Can articulate how they will contribute to the solution of key issues in the healthcare system
- Can demonstrate concern for vulnerable populations

- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Letter of Intent (max 2 pages): Letters of intent should demonstrate how you have developed a vision and understanding of health informatics through your own life and career experiences.
- Scan of Transcripts: Transcripts must be scanned and uploaded to the SGS application website from all post-secondary institutions. Official transcripts will be required if you are selected to move forward to the interview stage.
Reference Letters
The email addresses of two references are required. References can be academic, or non-academic.
Recommended Referees:
- Will give you the most positive review
- Most senior level at their professional institution (when compared to other potential referees)
- Able to communicate your skills and abilities that may help you succeed as a graduate student
- Academic referees should speak to academic performance and likelihood of success in graduate-level studies
- Professional referees should have supervised you, and be able to speak to your skills and experience that can be beneficial to the program.
- Avoid references from family members, friends, students, classmates, employees, colleagues or teaching assistants
- Have a valid institutional or organizational email address (i.e. not Outlook, Gmail or Hotmail, etc.)
Referees will receive an email with a link to an online reference letter form.
