Vernissage Health

Vernissage Health 2018: A Dialogue Series

Vernissage Health™ is a unique leadership development opportunity for emerging health care leaders who are graduate students in the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation (IHPME) at the University of Toronto and the broader Dalla Lana School of Public Health.

Two groups of leaders are brought together in dialogue – those embarking on careers in health and those disembarking from successful careers as CEOs and health executives in Canada’s health system.

During Vernissage Health™ sessions, emerging and experienced health care leaders explore past experiences and current challenges to help develop future health care leaders who are poised to lead change and transformation in the health care system.

Our intention is to create an engaging, positive and supportive environment that will enable individuals to express their hopes, aspirations and reservations about leadership in health care by exploring past experiences, as well as current and emerging challenges. Through dialogue and reflection, we can help emerging leaders build personal plans and develop resilience for their futures.

Our hope is that all individuals – experienced and emerging leaders – give, receive and contribute to the process in an engaging and meaningful way – creating an experience that will have lasting impact on their lives and careers.

Working within a discussion circle, a “small ensemble” is created to establish trust and build relationship between participants during the dialogue series. During each session, each participant will have an opportunity to listen, share and reflect. We will create an environment where people feel invited to speak from the heart and in any authentic voice rather then from their heads or egos. Conversations will be facilitated through use of personal stories, guided conversation and reflection.
