About
Yiran Wang is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation (IHPME), Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto. His research centers on the development and application of statistical methods for problems in public health, epidemiology, and ecology, with particular interests in Bayesian inference, causal inference, data integration, and statistical ecology.
At the University of Toronto, Yiran works with Dr. Kuan Liu on methodological research motivated by environmental and population health applications. His current work examines statistical challenges that arise when studying environmental exposures and health outcomes, including causal inference and the integration of information from multiple exposure data sources.
Yiran’s research builds on a broader interest in statistical methodology for complex observational and population data. Before joining the University of Toronto, he was a Postdoctoral Associate in Biostatistics at the Yale School of Public Health, where his work included environmental exposure mixtures, mediation analysis, and public health data equity.
He received his PhD in Statistics from the University of Waterloo, where he developed statistical and computational methods for capture-recapture and population size estimation, with applications in both ecology and public health. He also holds an MS in Statistics from the University of California, Irvine, and a BS in Statistics from Donghua University.
Alongside his research, Yiran is interested in teaching, mentoring, and interdisciplinary collaboration, particularly in bringing statistical methodology into close contact with substantive scientific questions.
