The Denburg and Pechlivanoglou Labs, in collaboration with the Child Health Evaluative Sciences (CHES) program at The Hospital for Sick Children, invite you to participate in a special one-day workshop in Discrete Choice Experiments (DCE) with expert Dr. Samantha Pollard of Simon Fraser University and BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute. DCE is an advanced technique in eliciting preferences and is used in health economics and health services research to understand decision-making by patients, clinicians, policy-makers and other health system stakeholders.

Dr. Pollard will provide a comprehensive overview of the concepts and qualitative and quantitative steps in design, analysis and reporting of a DCE study, with worked examples and a chance for hands-on statistical analysis. The workshop is intended to encourage further learning of this important technique.

Target audience:

  • Health economists, outcomes researchers, and HTA analysts
  • Clinical and health services researchers new to preference methods
  • Graduate students in health policy, epidemiology, or health economics

When and where: Wednesday, Sept 2, 9:00-3:30; SickKids Research Institute, 686 Bay St. Toronto, PGCRL Event Room 2A and 2B

Fee: $25; free for CHES staff, trainees and students. Refreshments and a light lunch provided.
