PhD full time

Complete in 4 years

Desirable thesis defense completion in CEHCR is 4 years

Up to 6 years to complete the degree requirements.
Must achieve candidacy by the end of the third year.   

MSc to PhD transfer and Direct Entry, full time

Complete in 4 years

MSc to PhD transfer: Students who have previously completed a non-thesis master’s and wish to pursue a PhD can apply for the thesis-based MSc.  An intention to transfer must be indicated on the application, (e.g., letter of intent should indicate a desire to transfer to the PhD stream).  It is not guaranteed.     

Direct-entry PhD: Information about direct entry PhD can be found on the SGS website.

Up to 7 years to complete the degree requirements.
Must achieve candidacy by the end of the fourth year.
