Admissions

Due to the nature of our funding arrangements, preference will be given to applicants who are Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents. International applicants with pre-arranged funding should indicate the funding source in their Letter of Intent.

Minimum Education

Successful applicants will have an excellent record of scholarship and an aptitude for health services research. MSc applicants should have graduated from a 4-year undergraduate program with at least a B+ standing in the last two years of study.

Documents

  1. Applicants are required to provide a Statement of Intent  (maximum two pages) that includes:
    • an outline of their research interests;
    • a statement of their interest in health services research; and
    • a description of the specific areas of research they would like to pursue.
  2. Applicants are also required to provide a Curriculum Vitae and demonstrate proof of English Proficiency (if needed).
  3. Transcript (scanned copy). Only students that have been offered admission and accepted will be required to provide original transcripts.

Supervisor

It is recommended that thesis-based students identify a supervisor as part of your application (review Faculty Profiles and Research and Initiatives and communicate with potential supervisors that align with your research interests). You will be asked to submit one or two names of potential supervisors.  Once your application is submitted, you are encouraged to continue to research on appropriate supervisors prior to the next phase of the application process.

Reference Letters

You are required to enter contact details for two referees in the application system who can speak to your academic and research abilities. They will receive an email with a link to an online reference letter form.

Other Application Requirements

  • If your intention is to pursue a thesis-based degree indicate your preferred emphasis in the drop-down in the application system.
  • If you intend to pursue the MSc to PhD Transfer Program you must declare your intention to do so within your letter of intent in the MSc degree application.
