Admissions

Minimum Education

  • Applicants require an overall B+ average or higher in the last two years of an appropriate bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
  • Applicants must have healthcare experience and demonstrate an aptitude for innovation and health systems.
  • Preference will be given to early-career physicians, medical trainees in a Canadian Faculty of Medicine or licensed clinical professionals.

International students – please refer to the International Credential Equivalency Chart to ensure that you meet the GPA requirement.


Documents

  1. Curriculum Vitae (CV)
    A two-page curriculum vitae (CV) that provides a summary of academic and leadership experience, including:
    1. Undergraduate and graduate education (i.e. degree(s), scholarships or awards)
    2. Paid employment history (role, organization and duration)
    3. Volunteer service history (role, organization and duration)
    4. Accomplishments in athletics, the arts or other domains that reflect leadership and teamwork
  1. Statement of Intent
    The statement of intent should outline your interest in health system leadership, leadership aspirations, career goals and learning goals, and experience relevant to health systems. The statement should be no more than 1.5 pages single-spaced.
  2. Transcripts
    • Transcripts must be scanned and uploaded to the SGS application website from all post-secondary institutions. Official transcripts will be required if you are selected to move forward to the interview stage. 
    • Grade legends and translations should accompany international transcripts.
    • For those in a residency or fellowship program please provide a letter from your residency or fellowship program outlining the details of your training (how long and where). We will use this letter as a transcript for your residency. 

Reference Letters

You are required to enter contact details for two referees in the application system. One referee must be a faculty member, who is able to indicate to the admissions committee the applicant’s academic ability and career aspirations, and comment on the applicant’s potential benefit from the MSc in Health Systems Leadership and Innovation. The referees will receive an email with a link to an online reference letter form.
