EMHI Program Details

This at a glance guide will help you navigate what to expect in the EMHI program.

A standard cohort will take these courses synchronously over the course of 22 months. Each student is provided the option to either choose an elective or complete a project extension (given program and supervisor permission). 

EMHI courses are delivered in modules, extended weekends, and consist of classes on: Thursday evenings, Fridays and Saturdays. Expect to book Fridays off work during the modules.

There are usually 5-7 modules per term.  Schedules may vary slightly from year to year, see timetable for more precise scheduling information.

Starting July 2024

The new revised EMHI program is designed for individuals who wish to or are poised to take on senior leadership positions in digital health and who need accelerated exposure to a World Class curriculum and experience in digital health leadership, policy and enterprise architecture.  The curriculum has been revised and undergoes on-going revision to adapt to a rapidly changing digital health environment. EMHI is delivered via a 22-month modular format (6 consecutive sessions), which requires the completion of 10.0 full-course equivalents (FCE).

The EMHI curriculum is offered online starting in July 2024 with a 1-week residency requirement each February.  The residency component allows us to teach courses in-person in an intensive format for curricular materials which are not conducive for an on-line program.  The residency component also coincides with the annual digital health conference (The Future of Health Leadership, Informatics and Policy Conference) that is focused on digital health policy and leadership, with opportunities for students to publish their project work in a peer-reviewed journal and to network with key policy leaders, stakeholders and patients in an intimate setting to advance their project work. 

EMHI students are paired with a mentor to guide them through their experiential project, provide career guidance and expand their network.  Later career individuals will be paired with an IHPME Senior Fellow who has extensive and progressive experience in the healthcare sector to provide 1-on-1 coaching, mentoring and network enhancement.
